a few times a year someone loses a dome due to lose bands.. even experienced eggers forget to tighten their nutz. with the holiday season almost upon us take a minute and check your bands and bolts. bands and nuts loosen over time especially with repeated high temp cooks. you nuts should be tight and your bolts bent.. [ don''t blame me i don't make this stuff up]
using RRP's double nut technique is a good idea.
pix are from green horn green egger ,, ,he recently lost his dome and as you can see his bolts were bent ,, as per usual the mothership and his dealer made things right.. no idea what happened but these pics show proper bent bolts and the trauma of lose bands and nutz..
let me be the first to wish all of you a a safe and happy holiday season , thankgiving, hanukkah and christmas..

no one likes loose nutz
-
Thanks for the reminder bill ole buddy, but the nut on that egg didn't need anymore tightening The bolt appears to be broken to me(maybe,if possible, too tight?) Or maybe a defective bolt?Either way,it's a great idea to check them
-
I tighten my nutz every chance I get
Great reminder and I saw you already took care of the PB privacy one -
Bill, thanks so much for the reminder and just like Pat I'm in tune with my nutz as well.

The last pic makes me ill -
Here is my med first pizza cook.(last year)
600 degree dome and I lifted the dome up and out it came. I am lucky no one got hurt and nothing got burned.
Mother ship took care of everything So dont forget to play with your nuts , this way you can have more fun for a longer time.
I finished the pizzas with foil over the top
they still were great -

Hi Doug,
I think in the one pic of my Egg that the bolt appears broken and offset. It wasn't broken and appeared normal. Not really sure what happened. Anyway, all is well now. Nobody got hurt and my Egg is back up and running. It is now dealer installed (makes me feel better anyway) and double nutted by him. Hopefully the reminder helps others avoid this pain -
It's that darn trick photography  I'm glad that your dealer took care of it for you I'd better go check my nutz :P

no amount of sponge bob band-aids can fix a broken dome.
the new little guy is a beautiful baby.. congratulations .
my little one is up to 550 on the leg press and 250 on the bench.. it goes by so fast. -
i heard that about you... would not be surprised if Al or E.M. did not have a picture.. i am thinking there should be some camera free zones at the next susnhine fest

you are welcome ,, and i am begininng to think that is a common trait amounst middle aged male floridians

please do check.. moving the egg around , in my experience, can cause a problem . mine came apart while we were moving it back into the trailer after a competition. no damgage but scary..
so where did you land? send me your new address and i will send you some of this years "cavemans club you to death' hot sauce.
the reminder to 'find' you is still coming up in my outlook -

Hypothetically speaking, if someone happened to replace their bolts with high strength, high heat aerospace bolts that don't bend and used locking nuts as well, would anyone have an idea of the proper torque setting?
Just asking,
Ed -
Job done
Not happy about how much they were able to tighten
Thanks again for the reminder. -
you are most welcome. i hope every one reads your post...
