Fellow BGEer's,
I am not sure, but I think we may have set some sort of a record with my BGE. We had some friends who were given 31# turkey.(I think it's really Big Bird from Sesame Street). We put on the egg this AM and it's cooking away. We used firebricks and drip pan.... [p]I have seen people ask how big of a turkey you can do on the egg...usual answer 24 or 25lbs. [p]I am not sure how this "Big Bird" will taste, but it's on the grill.[p]Happy New Year!!!

  • George T.,
It will taste great! If you take the word of a "foul" type of guy! A little pun goes a long way! I've smoked maybe 15 on the Eggs since I started last Jan. The only way to beat it, is to brine it over night before you cook it. I did that with the 2 I cooked for Christmas, at my youngest daughter's insistance and I was amazed! We'll try it again in a few weeks, to see if I just hit it lucky. That's a big bird for your first attempt! Just take it slow & easy and it will be great.[p]Dr. Chicken

    George T.,
That one will take about 7 3/4 hours at 300 to 325 F...Superb any way ya do em. I was crowding mine at 22 lbs.
Did you lower the grill to the firechamber ring?

  • Char-Woody,[p]I lowered the drip pan and firebricks below the fire ring and put the bird directly on the grill.[p]It tasted very good, but I think personally think a smaller bird taste better.
