Can you get good indirect heat without a plate setter?

If you want indirect heat you have to have a heat shield of some kind.
For instance, if you have a standard grid on the fire ring and a raised grid above it, you can use a drip pan, pizza stone, CI skillet, anything that will divert the heat.
    Hope this helps ;)
  • OK. Thanks. I just bought my Egg and was planning on cooking some ribs this afternoon but do not have the plate or similar heat shield.

I read your response to Capt. You can cook them direct, you just have to flip em and move em around a lot.Keep the temp as low as possible.
