Bread baked in a dutch oven...my first

Mudflap

This is my first attempt at making bread. A no knead recipe from Alton Brown. Overall I was pretty pleased. Next time I think I'll raise the dutch oven with some ceramic feet if I can get some. The bottom was getting too done while the top could have browned up slightly more.
raw dough
covered for 30 mins
uncovered for 15 mins

cooling

Looks good enough to eat....great job.

I made some skillet-biscuits on the Egg many years ago and they turned out really good.
So I thought, "Why couldn't I make bread in my Dutch Oven?"
Never did. But I think I will now.
Thanks for the reminder.

Wow.
I feel a project coming.
Just visited the Lodge outlet in South Pittsburg, Tn. this weekend, and I was a very bad boy!!!

The bread looks great. I will have to put it on my list of things to try.

Those look great! Now I want to make those too.

nice looking bread... I'll have to give it a trycontext is important

RE: bottom vs. top browning, try removing the lid a little earlier in the baking. I sometimes flip the loaf over (using tongs) if the top looks especially pale.
-
Good advice. I'll try that next time if it's too pale again. Wife just called to say how much she loved it as toast. Looks like I'll be making it again. So easy too.

Mudflap, nice loaf of bread! Nothing like toast from a homemade loaf of bread.

Looks great!!
My first was the "Onion Garlic Dutch Oven Bread" found in the recipes -- i use two chopped onions and a whole head of chopped garlic --no wheat germ and it is so good, i never bake anything but that ! I bake two loaves a week! -
Looks great! Just bought a DO a couple of weeks ago and want to try this. Two questions:
What was your temp?
Did you pre-heat the DO when stabilizing the egg - or does the DO go on cold? -
Thanks. Egg temp was 450 and yes, I put the dutch oven on when bringing up to temp so it is pre heated.
Next time I'm going to flip the platesetter over so the bottom of the DO isn't in contact with it. The bottom was a little more done than I'd like. I'm hoping that helps. Here's the recipe I followed. I went with the oven recipe obviously.
