Why not just cook direct? I see no reason to use the platesetter with a dutch oven.

That said, 9 quarts of one item can weigh considerably more or less than 9 quarts of another. In short, the weight can vary widely depending on what's cooking.

I have a Lodge 12" 8qt Dutch Oven and the only time I have had a problem with it on the Egg is when I was using a custom made mild steel grate that started to bend under the weight. Otherwise the plate setter, cast iron, and standard porcelain grates have been fine.
