Time to clean burn egg???

Getting some reminant funky fish-like smells in egg, mixed with a little chicken fat. Have never done a clean burn of egg, pretty gummy looking inside at this point.
How often are folks doing a clean burn, and how much lump are you burning? This will be my first in more than a year of use.
I anticipate opening it up wide (mine hits 650 to 700 pretty readily) and letting it burn until it burns no more....

If you have a standard issue gasket you can probably kiss it goodbye. What you said is how I would do it.

I usually do a CLEAN burn twice a year.I fill it up to the top of the firebox,light it up,leave top vent off and bottom vent wide open and let her rip til the fire goes out.If you are lucky it will toast your gasket,then you will have no gasket, therefore no gasket issues! :laugh:

But thanks to all that have urged us to show up. Looking at the pictures, you guys will have a great time. Unfortunately this is the last baseball tournament weekend for my son this year, so dad will be sitting in the stands all weekend drinking watered down coke and eating bad hotdogs while you enjoy EGGcellent food and cold beer!!!!
