Always nice to have any kind of bacon.
Cornmeal Coated Back Bacon, from Costco. Cooked indirect for a few hours at 300F until done (170F).
The meat:
On the Egg with a little BBQ sauce for looks:
All done!:
Now the side dish - potatoes, onions mixed in Veg. oil and Dizzy Pig Pineapple Head, and peas added after potatoes where cooked - about 30 minutes at 350F.
Ready to eat!
Of course because of the Egg it was great,
Thanks!

Interesting!!
So it was cured, but not smoked already? -
Is that the same as peameal bacon? I tasted it when I was in Canada for Nieggare fest, and it was great. We cant't get it here, so I want to cure/smoke my own.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

That looks good.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

My understanding is that it's pre-cooked/cured and not smoked. i didn't smoke it either.Dave

My understanding is it's the same except for the topping being cornmeal instead of peameal - I can't taste the difference. The grocery stores sell peameal bacon, Costco has Cornmeal - they look the same!

Faith,
I've always thought it was peameal bacon as I have not been able to tell the difference between what you find in the grocery stores and what is at Costco. I like to cook this up for breakfast from time-to-time and it is yummy. I do add wood chips to give a more smokey taste.

I think that peameal actually refers to cornmeal. Perhaps in the past peameal was actually used - but all recipes now call for cornmeal as the finishing touch.

Whatever peameal means, it was delicious and I would like to be able to duplicate it... if anyone knows a recipe for it, I would greatly appeciate it.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
