I have never tried oak for smoke flavor, but now I have a chit-load of it  I had a dead/dying oak tree that was leaning precariously toward my house that really needed to come down. The cheapest quote that I got was $600 to drop it(from a pretty shady lookin group).Well,it turns out that my neighbor's buddy is a tree specialist guy  with the forestry service. It only cost me a couple beers, and I have to/get to cook a few butts for him in return.Win-win for me  As a precaution,we hooked the tree to the winch on my Jeep, but all that was needed was a little tug.Lots of fun,but a little scary for me.Any local north GA eggfolks want some oak,let me know ;) Here's a few pics....
