I too have checked the box :)
I view in flat view and it works there. so happy :) a few posts have disappeared already and that is fine. I am not sure if I will keep it as I like greeting and helping new eggers... many come in at first looking for help and do not take the time to register :(
I will have to think about this an see... so many are accused of being trolls and they aren't, just like yesterday... I like to give the benefit of doubt.....
  • lets see how many climb on board!

  • yeah, but at the same time, if he does respond, none of us are even gonna know it, and thats the beauty of it ..
  • if you are talking about who i think you are talking about, he still has a registered handle.

i'm not looking at this as a way to dingle out one person. he's been better lately (if only in an effort to convince newbies that he wasn't as bad as he really was. see>>persecution complex)

i think there will be enough who don't 'check the box' that will help unregistered newbs, and they can always post to the feedback forum if they are having trouble registering.

look at it as a small incentive to actually register.

now, sundown and zip seem to need to lurk (maybe from work, or they are posting from their phone...). I know my blackberry was junk when trying to use the forum, and entering passwords was a problem.
  • and how soon before you caved and checked the "last 25" to see what you were missing?
  • MaineggMainegg Posts: 7,787
  • just realized (again) that an unregistered newb can start a thread and it will be seen. so we'll still see the newbs "help me" posts.

but of course that means that a determined rabble rouser could just keep starting new threads in order to get his/her annoying point across.

i think the mods have stepped up the deleting of abusive posts.

i really think a few level-headed mods sprinkled around could quell the abusive stuff. no, no ones deletes a post just because they don't agree. i imagine a specific set of rules/guidelines could be given to a deputy-moderator of sorts.

Have I missed anything yet? LOL
  • believe me, its going to be a problem if i'm using my wife's computer. ...then i'll be on as mad max offline ...etc. ...doesn't solve all the world's problems, just a few of them. ...and no, i haven't peeked yet!!

Checked the box as most (not 100%) of posts are not what I want to read. Have no problem with statements posted with signiture line.
As Julie brought up I hope do not miss much by the very new poster not signed up.
Now if we could get the "OT" back in this one forum :)

I try to stay in the no-pee zone of the pool, don't want to miss out on posts by legit newbies, RGBHV-offline, zip-lurk, et al... not to mention the free entertainment :P

Max, if I mark the box does it mean I wouldn't be able to see your post as Mad Max offline?

It blocked anonymous replies, but not an original anonymous post.

I can reply to a newbie question, but not if they reply with a question..
  • if he's anonymous, then yes

Hey Chubby, all of this box checking has given me an idea! Maybe the city of Greensburg, PA, instead of passing an ordinance against sofas and couches on front porches, could give everyone a special pair of glasses when they reach the city limits that would prevent the wearer from seeing the offending sofas! What do you think? LOL!

Personally if I can't do it on a one to one basis I don't see much usefulness. I see way more anonymous posts from legit newbies then trolls. I would also like to be able to block registered users that troll. They can be way more annoying.
