It's just a 2.5 inch Prime Ribeye...
Hitting the Cast Iron Plate on my Small which by now, (as we speak) is rockin' hot... awaiting a chunk of clarified butter, and it's next victim!!
2.5 minutes on the sear (each side)...rest...and then we'll finish her slooo, (up high on the tall GrateMates) until she hits about 120 and rolls over and proclaims...
Ohhh Chubby, you're my King!!
It's good to be Chubby!

It's 4:42am and now I see this. It's to much! Now my stomach is growling. Man all that smoke and sizzle and spark and meat and fat and flavor.... :P :woohoo:

Evans is the reason for the Cast Iron Plate sitting low over just a CI grill sitting low to get a better sear on the meat?Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

don't you just thank god at least once a day that you have access to my dementia!!
-
Nice shot, Evans... and great looking sear!
john -
Yes...
You just get more contact that with any type of grid.
Lot's of schmantzy Steak houses do this type of hard sear to get that crust, as opposed to grid marks!
The CI plate also doubles as a great toaster,
burger flattop griddle...tortilla warmer... or as a replacement for the traditional ceramic type thermal barrier.
One handy little peice i telly'a!

I'll trade you my steely marbles for it. Maybe one cat-eye marble. :silly:

Hey Chubby, I`m a newbie, but if you could give me a few hints on how to do the prime. Thanks. Would love to try it.

Hey...Welcome aboard!!
Newb's...are ok with me... I started out as one you know!
Not sure what you want/need?
Easiest way...just dial me up @ 281) 894-4471 and we can bat it around!
I'm not much of a typist, and it's more a conversation as opposed to an explaination, (depending on your skill level...what egg you have, and
what your steak of choice is)...so as long as you're brave enough...give me a ring!
I'm around now fd you are!
I'd be pleased to make another acquaintance here!
