One of the things that I really like about this forum is that the members are not only good chefs, but a lot of you are great craftsman. I really enjoy seeing the craftsmanship and work done by forum members. Whether it's a new accessory, an outdoor kitchen, a new home for your Egg or just replacing the wooden handle on the Egg, it's all good.
I was inspired by several members who replaced their handles and/or shelves on their Eggs, so I thought that I would give it a shot with a piece of mesquite that I picked up in West Texas earlier this year. It's nothing fancy, but it's a lot better that the original wood that was never sealed and was beginning to look pretty bad.

That looks good - the wood on my eggs is by far the weak point, and one of mine is new. I look forward to upgrading the cosmetics.
How does your handle attach? Mine constantly work loose and it bothers me. I know a lot people go with none, but I think it makes the egg cook better when you have a nice handle on it. -
Vetereggarian - the handle is a single piece of wood so I attached it to the steel by drilling and tapping the steel and used two button cap 10-32 screws. The screws are hidden because they're in the back.
