Question about Brisket?

Are flats basically the thinner part of a whole brisket?

Basically. The flat is the muscle that usually runs the length of most of the whole brisket, and the point is the fat lump kind of looks like it is pasted on one end. The flat and the point are seperated by a layer of fat.[p]Hope that helps!
