    She said it was a swamp cooler, which wouldn't have a compressor. A swamp cooler lifts water to the top of the cooler, and as it runs down, it evaporates, causing cool air...... or something like that.

  • Might try looking for a motor repair shop. Depending on the type of motor it might just need new brushes which won't be that expensive. Craigs list and ebay typically have a lot of motors for sale.
