While shopping at Walmart, I purchased a magazine called "Grilled" at the check-out counter. A new dessert recipe caught my attention, so made it tonight adapting to the BGE. It was definitely a winner!
Grilled Banana Splits
Make a lengthwise slit in a unpeeled banana. Stuff the opening with chocolate (I used Lindt dark chocolate with hazelnuts). Place the stuffed bananas over indirect heat (I used platesetter, grid, pizza stone and banana on parchment paper). Grill for approx. 10 minutes or until banana has darkened and the chocolate melted.
Scoop banana and chocolate out of the peel and serve with ice cream. Yummy!

Really cool idea. Would be nice with a scoop of vanilla on the side too!

Di, thanks for the idea. I frequently make banana crepes with either chocolate or nutella and top with whipped cream. I think I'll give this a try, it looks so cute.

Sounds like the "Banana Boats" that we used to make on family campouts when I was a kid. We added mini-marshmallows to the bananas and didn't have ice cream but conceptually the same.

That looks delicious, the wife doesn't like Bananas hmmm desert for one,
