{(sigh) Not expecting this to lead anywhere, but sometimes it feels better to say something anyway...}
As posted using their "Viewer Relations" message tool:
During season #1, John Markus provided knowledgeable color commentary based on personal experience in BBQ competition. In contrast, Kevin Robert's appearance on MSNBC "Today" made it clear that Mr. Roberts knows little about proper BBQ technique, and is really a bit of a buffoon. What exactly does he bring to the show? I wonder how many tons of ribs were ruined by poor BBQ-ignorant souls trying to utilize his "technique" over the holiday weekend?
It is clear that classical restaurant training and experience therein does not necessarily lead to expertise in BBQ. Season #1 made that point as it followed "Paul" as he tripped through the season. It is doubtful that experience running a few sports bars would prepare one any better! Methinks Kevin makes Paul look like Myron, Johnny, or Harry.
Clearly, Kevin has been chosen for the host slot next season for his showboat personality. Kinda smells like network TV. I had thought that the Discovery channels were a bit more cerebral than that...

Apparently he was a contestant, but not a finalist on the "Next Food Network Star" show. He has written two books and tours the college circuit. He has a site at:
http://www.munchiestv.com/
He goes by: "The food dude".

Upon further reflection, he reminds me of Richard Simmons. He needs some shiny gym shorts....The Naked Whiz

Good for you for writing! I saw this and the guy is a goofball! And that's me being kind in my remark.

If you check the dude's schedule, you'll see the same day he appeared on the Today Show, he did a french's mustard promo at Yankees Stadium.
