I did burgers my first time. Easy, quick, and you can really taste the difference.

Spatchcocked chicken. That will be a winner! Cut out the backbone. Spread that bird out. Season and cook about 325. What eggcessories do you have?
Have a platesetter?Molly

You shouldn't get your new Egg above 400° for the first five or six cooks. That way the gasket will better attach itself.
I always recommend a Spatchcocked Chicken as the first cook. Since most of us know what chicken tastes like we can quickly see the difference in the way the Egg makes chicken taste.

Enjoy your new toy and keep us up to date on your cooks. We love photos too.

Got the platesetter and the roasting rack with the new egg.

I use the plate setter with my spathcocked.. That is indirect cooked. Use the rack if you wish on the grate, that'll get it higher in the dome. You could kick the temp up after it gets to temp and brown that bird pretty.

I just got my second Egg today!! You'll love it. Got to go with the majority and do the spatchcock or beer can chicken. Eather are easy and give great results. Just cook the breast to about 140-145 at the coolest spot and you'll be a chicken cooking expert that your family and friends will be in awe of!

I vote for a pork tenderloin. Easy cook. You can go direct or indirect.
Congrats on your new Egg. -

Why not start off with an 18 hour low temp cook of a boston butt, while chasing temps all night on an unseasoned egg, get disgusted and then sell it to me cheap for my second... :silly:

Where from Texas, 6?

As another new egg owner, how long is it before your egg is "seasoned" and you can do a low and slow all night without having to babysit it?
Also, do you have to register your BGE with BGE to get the warranty? I didn't see a spot on their website to register it. -
i did chicken wings 3 ways, they were delish.

Veal Scallopini with avocado

He's just messing around. You can do a lo n slo the first day. That is if you have the temp control figured out. The only seasoning needed is for the meat.
-
Yes you have to register your Egg. There was a book containing the registration card that came with mine years ago. I'm not sure how they do it now. You might look through your BGE stuff for the card. If you can't find something telling you how to register, call your dealer or BGE in Atlanta. Just don't forget to do it.

BBQ ribs. 4 to 5 hour cook, indirect, 250° dome. Hickory/apple/pecan/cheery wood smoke,... take your pick. :cheer:
Have fun!!! -
Looks like the first item to cook is burgers (we have them at the house already)
Next we have to try the Spatchcocked chicken.
Photobucket account we must start one.
Thanks for all the tips.
