Hi to all,

I am trying a recipe from the archives about Miss Alyce's Baked Apples but have a couple of questions. The recipe doesn't say what they cook it in, if it's direct or inderect. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dana

    Does this help??

    Dessert, Baked Apples, Miss Alyce

    As cooked at the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 Eggtoberfest

1 can (6lb 8oz) White House Sliced Apples
    1 stick real butter
    2 Tbs ground cinnamon
    2 Tbs whole cloves
    1 Tbs nutmeg
    2 cups brown sugar
    3/4 cups raisins - dark
    3/4 cups raisins - golden
2 cups Ocean Spray - Craisins - cranberries
    2 cups walnuts
1/2 cup dark rum or apple brandy

    1 Cook/smoke in a 7qt. dutch oven for 1 and 1/2 hours at 350°F
2 add walnuts during last 15 minutes of the cook
3 remove, add rum, light, and serve
    Cooking Tips
1 Variations: use pecans instead of walnuts or both - add other fruit; pears or cherries for example - chopped ginger is a nice addition - dark (grade b) maple syrup instead of the brown sugar - apple brandy or light rum, all is according to taste
