Weapons of Meat Destruction--My b-day present

My wife did it up right. My first good knife was the Shun 8" classic chef's knife so today I received the 3 1/2" paring knife...I love it! It did make me realize it's time to send the chef's knife in for sharpening but the OKC eggfest is right around the corner so I might as well buy another.

Little Chef, I think you sent me a link for the blade protectors....German sounding name that I think starts with an M I believe.

I also got one of those cool cutting boards that has a cutting surface made of compressed paper so it's supposed to be knife friendly without harboring bacteria and is dishwasher safe.

    That is a great set.
    My Mother and Father in Law were in town last month and gave me the same two knives. I love them.
    They said my German Messermeister set was no good.
    Still need to get a good cutting board. They also gave me a Shun sharpener.
    Sure would not take to an Eggfest...
    Watch your finger tips!!!

    I have two of those epicurean boards and love them. I use one for raw proteins and the other for cooked proteins and veggies. they score like wooden boards and they don't really seem to dull my knives. I have no experience with a wooden board so I can't compare, but they are definetly better than a plastic board. you will be pleased. Nice knives too!
