Called a local BGE dealer just before leaving the office for lunch to discuss a deal we had talked about last week on a large egg. Forty minutes later I'm driving back to the office with my first egg and I'm fired up. I have a feeling that the last 2.5 hours of the day here at work are going to seem like forever
BTW, thanks to Hungry Celeste for recommending a good dealer. I feel like I got a great deal!

Congratulations Kenny and welcome. You will really enjoy your new toy and this forum has a wealth of information on it. Good luck on your first cook and let us know how it goes.

Thanks! I had been lurking here for several months before signing up recently, so I've gotten some ideas on how the eggs work. Sure I'll still have questions as I go on though.

Congratulations Kenny!
I'm only a few weeks into my first BGE (a large) and I can't believe how fun and interesting this all is.
The best advice I received so far is don't let your cooker get ahead of you. It's easier to warm it up than it is to cool it back down. Patience truly is a virtue in this game. My head is reeling with everything I'm reading and learning and the sometimes conflicting advice, so I've also got to remember to keep it loose. I've made a few mistakes (royally screwed up my 1st attempt at a spatchcock) and more are to come. That's ok though. Every mistake usually brings with it a little learnin'.
Have fun! -

Thanks! I've been thinking that although I'm no stranger to BBQ/grilling, cooking on the egg I'll probably have to re-learn a lot of things that I've already gotten used to with other cookers. -
Congrats & welcome!
