I can not wait to test this bad boy out this weekend. Making 16 lbs of pork butt for the Super Bowl. Let me preface this by stating I am the least handy person I know. I can change a light bulb...barely.
My questions are:
1. My 10cfm PIT VIPER has the hook on it, how do i mount my digi q to it?
2. I also ordered the magnetic holder for the digiq for when my table is finished, but i'm not sure how the digi q hooks to the magnets either
3. It is supposed to snow here in Iowa, Saturday. Will I be ok plugging this in to my outdoor outlet even if we get some snow? I plan on doing the zip-lock bag or tupperware trick with the actual digi q unit but i'm not sure on the plug in.
Thanks in advance!
Jason

iahawkfan16, Not exactly sure what you mean. I have a CyberQ II and I have an adapter that fits on my bottom vent. Then The pit viper goes on that. Then the cord coming form the pit viper goes to the controller. Hope this helps. Tim

I've used my DigiQII in sub zero temps. I just put a ziplock bag over the controller. I have pretty much the same setup as 2Fat, I slip the stainless holder in between the planks on my table. Oh, and I don't have a hook on my Pit Viper.

what the best place to get that set up both the diggq and pit viper

I think you can only get them directly from www.bbqguru.com that's where I got mine anyway.
The Stoker from Rock's BBQ is a similar product. You can read reviews of both here: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/productreviews.htm -
i just got a guru as well, plan on trying it out tomorrow. Do you use the clip that came with it, i assume clip the probe to the grill grate or is it better to use the same hole the thermometer is in?
thanks -
I guess the DigiQ DX is the same as my DigiQ II.
The probe with the aligator clip, clips to the grill grate, and the curved probe goes into the meat. I guess it matters more where you actually plug them into the controller.
Don't clip the probe too close to the meat because the outside temp of the meat may influence your readings.
