Timothy S Pinkerton,[p]In the chiminea, no problem. In the Egg, you could use all wood if you want, but it makes a lot of ash and a very smokey flavor. Most of us use natural lump charcoal [not briquettes!] with a few chunks of hardwood. When I want a lot of smoke flavor, I use two or three pieces, each the size of an ordinary office stapler. [Usually less than that, though.][p]

Prof Dan, I've had some very hot fires in my chiminea using
oak, hickory, mesquite and pinchon. Unfortunately, mine is on vacation til October since we live in Tampa
