I've done a little research and I'm overwhelmed at the options for rasied direct cooking.
Do I go with a Woo2, or a raised BGE rack?
Or does anyone have any other options?

Stacie,
I have the Woo2 and it has served me well and is a first class product that will last till the Cows come home. But any method will work. Last year I won a plate setter at an egg fest for a medium and it is still in the box, when I go indirect with Suitcase I use the Woo2 with a Pizza stone.
Good luck and Happy Eggin.

I WONDERED then if the plate setter or the pizza stone was the way to go if I got a Woo2.

Hi Stacie
I use a couple fire bricks cut to size. I found the bricks at a local brick yard for a coupe bucks each and a contractor here in town was nice enough to cut them for me for no charge.

Stacie like Jim said the woo2 is the way to go IMHO. I have one and love it. There are so many different things out there but I puffer the woo2. Tom gives awesome customer service and gets the products out fast, you will not be disappointed.

I have an XL and use the same set-up as Gator. The "split" fire bricks are half the normal thickness and when cut to size, set on the fire ring making the grid same height as the grill opening. Works great and costs less than other methods.

Stacey, ditto to what PBM and JJ said. I have the woo2 and haven't looked back. I still use my platesetter ('cause I rushed out and bought one) but if I had it to do all over again I would have deferred the platesetter until I became more involved with baking.
Good luck! -
Silly newbie question, what is a woo2?Woody in Northville, MILarge BGE with AR R & B Oval Combo w/Extender and Sliding D Grid, Kick Ash Basket, Smokeware Cap, Wok, Grill Grates and Kettle Q

Exactly, it's essentially a non-adjustable Adjustable Rig, and a good, cost-effective way to raise the grid.
I used to live in Akron in my salad days, Stacie, Tallmadge to be specific.
