I Did it. Just Purchased an XL BGE!
BGE Convert
Posts: 127
I own a Weber Gas Grill and have a little tiny Smokey Joe. I love cooking outdoors and I have been researching smokers for some time and came to the conclusion that the versatility of the BGE as a direct grill and smoking device was too good to pass up.
Got mine on sale for $854 and it was on a weekend where purchases were tax free. I got the ash remover tool and plate setter for 10% off and no tax. I went ahead and ordered the long table with cover but did not get a reduced sale price on these items (but tax free).
Did I get a good deal? What do you think?
Can't wait till the new toy comes on in.

BGE Convert, I would say you got a good deal. I have seen where some dealers sell a large BGE for $799. Plus you got it all tax free! You may not realize it but you have just entered the "egghead zone"!

If you don't mind me making a suggestion.
When using your egg in a table most people around here put a paving stone on the table then the three green feet. Most people on this forum do that just in case over the years the egg gets hot and can scorch the table.
Others may chime in here but, It would help you in the long run to do it now.
I have two layers of thin firebrick but you only need a big paver stone and be sure to use your two feet in front and one in back under the hinge.

Sounds like a very good deal. You should be very pleased with your purchase. Have fun with it and be sure to try some of the ideas you see here on the forum. Also, if you have questions, the experienced eggers here are a wealth of knowledge.

Dude where are you from? If I could score an XL for that my life would be perfect. Please let me know where you are from so I can track this obviously intoxicated dealer

I got the deal at Offenbachers in Sterling, VA. They have several locations in VA, DC and MD. Google it to get to the website. The XLBGE was already reduced to $949 with an additional 10% off. The tax free deal was up on 1/18. Number to call is 703 444-8882. Ask for Wendel! My apologies to the boardhost if they consider this inappropriate advertising.

I think you got a heck of a deal! Not only did you get the Egg, but a brand spankin new obsession. :P

Thanks for the advice. In reviewing the catalog for all the extras, I noticed the paver stone was in all the pictures for the tables. As part of the purchase I asked if the paving stone was included with the purchase. The salesman gave me the lowdown that it did not come with the table and that it was just a simple paver that I could get a home depot. That is on the list of things to do. Thanks again!

You got a good deal on the XL, and to get 10% off on the plate setter and ash tool was good too. As for the table, that is the way to go. If you are handy with wood or like challenges, maybe making your own table might be an option, if the table you ordered can be return. It is a lot cheaper to make your own. There are plans on how to make the table. Either way, you made a good choice with the EGG.
Enjoy.
