Howdy from the Ol' Poor Georgia Redneck Boy - and did the boys do it right tonight - Yep, we made some Fred Flintstone burgers and Scooby and Scrappy were on fire!
HUGE burgers for 3 of us...trust me, these were monsters...and the Garlic Pepper from BGE is awesome
Raised grates on both Scooby and Scrappy. Scooby has a CI but can't find one for Scrappy...HELP
And for those that don't think the Small will get hot...think again. These two dogs are like 3 Mile Island. The 2nd pic is of a couple of slabs of onions with butter and soy on them
Which is why Bruce at Mothership sent me this today
Getting the heat up and the food up in the dome...you can still sear and eat something like this
I know, I know - you already know all this but this Egg stuff just makes me crazy!
Enjoy the evening -

Thats what I was gonna say..but wanted to make sure I didn't confuse the small with the mini...when I do burgers on the mini..it's one at a time at 600° plus...hot and fast, a minute per side..finish em on the large at 300 to 350..

Man that's scary there is a guy that lives around here named Lanier that HAS to be your TWIN!!!   :ermm: :S

LoL - funny guy tonight. Hey - when is Memphis in May...dates? I guess I could look online...fingers to lazy right now.

Great post Jim, nice looking grub! I have a medium egg and it rocks. When I lit it tonight I lit the whole thing with my MAPP torch, not just a couple spots. It was up to 500º in about 15 minutes with used lump in it. LOL, I even hit the cast iron grid with the MAPP when I put it in, that sped it up even more. It's about time I put burgers on my to do list again, they are one of my favorites on the egg.

In May.  Second or third weekend, not sure which. Will let you know for sure.

I almost got a medium but decided the small was all I needed. I just enjoy messing around and finding different cooking setups and do main meal only on it. When I got the mini - just got better. It's alot of fun.
Do you have a woo or have something to raise the grate? The GrateMates Deluxe package I use...along with the plate setter and stones - allows me to cook at many different heights. Then I got a mini woo built up to 1 3/4" for the mini...both are great setups for what I do on them.
Burgers...the ultimate man food...except for anything else that goes with a cold O'Douls

My sister and BIL gave me my egg a year ago. I could have had a large but am happy I got the medium, for just me it will do most anything.
All I have to raise my grid are some cut fire bricks.
I have some slightly smaller Weber's that I have put on bolts but haven't used them yet.
I originally made them for Jerky but haven't got that far yet. They may get used for Pig Candy first.

Hey - those setups work! I like the 3 layer setup...I use a 3 tier pie holder on my small. I got it from Waffle House...they used to have them on the counter under a glass top. It works great! I've even done 3 8" pizzas on it at once...but, cooking 2 at once works best. I use it alot for the kids. Takes a little longer to get the stones good and hot...but it works.

you crack me up, love the pics.Egging on two larges + 36" Blackstone griddle -
I was at the main headquarters of John Henry rubs in Houston the other day. They said that they make the Big Green Egg spices and put the BGE label on them.
You might find it cheaper than buying the BGE rubs.

Hey Gator,
What size webers are they and what spacing did you use? I got a woo2 to get my grid up to the felt line and use a 13 inch weber with 4 inch bolts for a raised grid. Your double raised grid is interesting (and it fits under the med's dome?)
Thanks! -
Hey LJ,
Good lookng burgers. I bet you drive your neighbors nuts with all that good egg cooking and aromas created. -
Yep - my neighbor two doors down always makes the walk to say hello when he sees me on the deck with the eggs rockin. Funny - he never drops by when I'm just out on the deck. Hmmmmmmmm -
