I've searched the forum on how to cook a tri-tip steak but couldn't find much information.
How is the best way to cook a tri-tip steak?

I cook it direct at 400 first close to the lump then finished on a raised grid. Pull at 125, don't overcook, slice then against the grain

You might want to rub with olive oil and season it with [insert favorite beef rub here] a couple hours or so before cooking.
Just plain salt, pepper, and garlic powder works great too!! -
is it the whole roast that looks like a steak, or did someone steak it up. heres how i cook them, the tritip takes on a great flavor with the baste. i go light on his rub, but heavey with the baste
