Been "lurking" a while reading up on all that goes on here. I've been slow to jump into posting, but have been getting all sorts of help from the dialog that goes on in the forum. I really appreciate the great tips I've gotten from you all.

Went to Eggtoberfest and bought a "gently used" Large Egg. I've done several fun cooks, but my favorite so far was on Halloween I did my first butt using Elder Ward's recipe at nakedwhiz.com

Here's a photo. I hope it posts properly. If it doesn't you can see it and other pics (including Eggtoberfest) at my blog.

Thanks again for all the support.

  • Welcome toothpick. As you've discovered, this forum is an amazing resource.

I looked at competing products for a while before I bought my XL last July. As much as anything it was the power of the forum that made up my mind. My first Eggfest was the Nieggarafest in September. My next one will be the Florida Eggfest in March. I registered for Florida yesterday. They are just so enjoyable.

The XL gave birth to the Mini in October for our RV.

My wife counts our marriage in years BBGE and ABGE.

Isn't it amazing what you can do with a cheap hunk of pork, some lump charcoal and a Big Green Egg with a great bunch of people ready to back you up with advice and encouragement.

  • Commenting on my butt? Before I got my Egg, I would not have expected it from anyone named Frank. In this case, I'll take it as a compliment. Thank you. I'm having a blast with my new toy.

  • You take the good with the bad here on the mean streets of Charlotte. Safe travels here and back to Anderson. Thanks for the comments. Eggtoberfest was a blast. Can't imagine how much fun it would be if it were dry and warm.
