And it's finally here!!!

Here is the info for the "Gathering" Nov. 7

The hotel I recommend is the Southfork Hotel.Their website is The phone number is 972-578-8555.

This is an informal gathering with a Fest atmosphere. We will have the big green inflatable egg, door prizes and drawings. There will be a cooks drawing for a new Mini Big Green Egg! A little birdie told me there may be another egg give-away. Not sure, yet.

There will be a meet and greet at the club Friday evening.Drinks are very reasonable and must be purchased from the club...The Plano American Legion.

I hope you have all seen the pics I posted yesterday. It's really a nice place. We spent 80k remodeling the interior. Wifi is available if anyone is onterested in bringing your computer.

I have not advertised this anywhere except here, so there shouldn't be a lot of people off the street, but anyone wanting to sample the food will be sold a pass with the proceeds going to " Meals On Wheels".

Saturday, we can start and end anytime we want. Let's say 9 AM till whenever! Tables,Ozark Oak lump and starter cubes will be provided.I will bring my mapp torch, if anyone wants to use it.

We will have an after party too! The patio would be nice for this.

There will be designated drivers all weekend. No need to worry if you get too "relaxed"!

There are plenty of grocery stores nearby, and Plano also has a Central Market. If you've heard of it, I need say no more. If you haven't it is worth a trip just for the experience.

Here's the list of who is coming, and what cookin', so far -

Misippi Egger - Egg-cooked gumbo, blackened fish
Photo Egg - Stuffed pork tenderloin, Rack of Lamb Chops, bacon wrapped something, what ever we find local that looks good.
hornhonk - Corn on the cob, Pulled pork enchiladas
Lake Conroe Egger - Beef Ribs
SoonerChris - Moink Balls
Carwash Mike - Baby back ribs, BBQ Baked Beans
Mickey - ABT's with pulled pork
Spring Chicken - Bourbon Meatballs, Jalapeno Pie
Spring Hen
Desert Oasis Woman
Timothy and Serena Allen
Snoopy Dog Dog
Ku Hendra

If you're not on the list, PLEASE let me know if you are coming, it would be a big help. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Steve...hornhonk

PS. We have a Waffle House!

This is Lynn. She will be our bartender Fri afternoon and during the day on Saturday. She is a Vikings fan. Be very mean to her

In the middle of this one you can see a brown door. It leads to the patio that you see above.

This is a shot of the kitchen we can use to prep.

Finally, the weather is looking great for the entire weekend!

  • Would it confuse the situation for an "outlaw" to bring an "inlaw?" LOL

I know we paid extra for nice weather but I think it's worth it.

  • The more the merrier! I'm working on trying to get my wife to skip the wedding shower she has on Saturday and meeting me at the Legion sometime on Saturday for the fest and the after party. Hopefully she gives in.

  • Any eats at the Meet and Greet? I have some Canadian Bacon curing and smoked cheese.

The Meet and Greet will be held on the patio. Plenty of lighting! I figure 7 or so would be a good time? I'll bring a dish. Is 7 too late to start? I really want to try that cured Canadian Bacon :P

    Hi Mike,
Last time I talked to Steve he said the Hall was having a fund raiser diner fish fry plate for sale.
They said we could set up some Eggs later in the night and cook what ever we want Friday night.
After the "Twin Peaks" post a few days ago I was thinking??? and then back to the Hall and fire up a couple Eggs for some late night snacks.
    Thank you,

    Galveston Texas
  • I'm hoping to be there around that time. What about the transportation you were speaking of? I want to leave my car at the hotel.
  • hornhonkhornhonk Posts: 3,841
Not a problem. We will have transportation for you. I will provide more details shortly. ;)
  • If it is okay, I will have some CB, smoked swiss and crackers. If not, will be available at the after party.
