Last weekend I put on 4 6 pound butts. I checked them around midnight and the temp creped up to 300. So I closed the vent a little and went to bed. I woke up around 6 to a 68 degree egg and 75 degree butts. :( Luckily they were not for a party. I was just cooking for friends since they were on sale for .89 a pound. I picked up 4 more and redid them Friday. This time I got up every couple hours to check on them. No problem this time. they came out great.

That looks great. Do you have to rotate them or do they cook evenly stacked like that?

I can feel your pain. I lost a brisket last night myself. Your pork looks great. This is the greatest signature EVAR!

whtfarmer,
I did not move them. -
This is why I love my digiQ II. I had done butts and briskets many times overnight before I got it and lost lost of sleep. Since I got my digiQ II I can sleep with the piece of mind that I have almost entirely mitigated the problem of the fire going out.
BTW, nice lookin' butts! -
That's what is so aggravating about is i have a digiq2.
The only thing i can think of is i put some pretty big pieces of hickory in it. When they started burning it could not control it like charcoal.
