After being inspired by Florida Grillin Girl, I decided to venture into uncharted waters. Let's face it, in the kitchen I am a hack, with the camera I'm all thumbs. But here goes-

In the beginning there was trigger fish

ready to go all in

ooooh that's hot

that's better

let the games begin

good start

stuff me, roll me, slap ....

Still working on plating. How do you hold off the family while you are trying to take a picture?

If you have not had trigger fish, give it a shot. Texture is firm, silky, and not fishy. This was my first attempt at something like this, and even my 7 year old ask to have it again. Es muy bien!!

I marinated the fish in Italian dressing and white wine, then squeezed some lime on the finished fish. I have to say, this was some of the best fish I have cooked or had at a restaurant. Great fish, and not expensive.
  • Ashman...Nice looking cook! :) ;) And Trigger fish, may be my all time favorite fish! Pain in the patootie to clean, but well worth the effort!! We get some pretty big Triggers down here!

Again, awesome cook!! Great job! :) ;)

They look great. The starfruit is an intersting addition. I like the idea!

They hold their moisture, and give a nice texture. Just don't think of using them often enough.

They aren't the most sought out fish, but they are tasty. And their texture can't be beat.

  • Nice Post!
In Pennsylvania, the only triggerfish are at the pet superstores.
Maybe I can grow my own?
It's nice to see a different type of meal.
    Thanks for the inspiration!!
  • Hey Gordon, nice dinner. I think after these pics, there will be lots of fish tacos being made and devoured this weekend. I was going to make them again myself. Glad your kids liked them!
