Glitch with the mini...suggestions?

Have already cooked several times on the new mini - love it - now having some anxiety about that brand new large that we just got - and haven't fired up yet this week... :( :ermm: When the new band with hinge becomes available, I think we'll get it. The major problem is that when I open the lid, the daisy wheel doesn't hold the position, it slips to anywhere. It's really loose; the bolt that I thought we could tighten, seems to be tight already - any suggestions?

Try turning the wheel backwards. It is not the way it is intended to be, but works for not sliding around when opening the lid?!?!?
-
Cook on it and let it get junky and will slow down the movement.

spin the whole lid so that the screw holding the daisy wheel on is in line with the thermometer, it will not move when you open the lidhappy in the hut

What the zippster said until it gets gunked up.

These folder clips work well too and they're easy to operate even with welding gloves on. Just clip one to the edge of the lid and it will stop the lid from closing past the point where it contacts the base.

read zippy's post. Just line up the screw and it will stay put

I took a flat file and slowly removed metal from the daisy wheel mounting lug until the fastening screw held the wheel tighter.

Thanks all; Yea, I have done the alignment thing...works on my large, but not this little bugger...it's just flat out loose...on my large, there is at least some surface contact between the base cap and the wheel. With this, there is NO contact, in fact the wheel probably sits away from the base by an 1/8 of and inch; just flops around. Thinking I might have to get a new one, because it would take alot of gunk to get it gummed up enough to stick!!! hahaha

Wanabe, maybe we'll try that, I think that would solve it. Thanks.
