I'm cursed! First cook on XL = broken grate

I was heating up my XL, getting ready for my first cook which was going to be huli huli chicken. Temp was climbing.. hit 200 and BANG. Grate split right in half....
I'm cursed.

The porcelain grate or the fire grate?

The one that sits in the fire box..(fire grate?)

OK I have got to ask.. At 200 degrees the firs should have been nowhere near the fire grate.
Tell us about your fire setup -
Filled up the firebox halfway (with BGE lump), barely covering the side airholes. Lit the lump with three fire starter squares in the center (rutland) on top of the lump.
