Spring assisted band not holding dome open

I'm having an issue with the band on my large egg. Occasionally the dome will slowly start closing. I've been able to grab it each time to keep it from slamming down.
Anyone else have this issue? How did you fix it? Can I replace the springs or something?
Thanks,
BeerMike

Someone had a similar problem recently. It turned out that the egg wasn't sitting all the way down in the nest and it was on a patio with a slight slope to it. They pushed it all the way into the nest and turned it on the patio...Problem solved. Hopefully yours is that simple.

Tighten these two nuts as shown and see if that helps:

That's impressive egret. Out of curiosity, is it because tightening prevents the spring from rotating at the base?canuckland

Wow, thanks John.
I have a couple customers with this problem I couldn't understand how it was happening.
Great tip.-SMITTY

No, the spring rotating is almost non existent because of this. What this does is tighten/cinch up the 'play' in the rotating mechanism......this is something that happens over a period of time due to the repeated opening and closing of the dome. I've had it happen on a couple of mine and it always fixes the condition.....
