Some pics of the old Days....Egg Fest in the back yard and my 2 buddies who got me started. Im not sure if this one was 98 but around there....The way we used to start them without all the smoke as there was and were about 50-75 folks showing up..Toss in a few bricks of match light on top of the lump and poof away she goes...

We boiled brats in beer then moved to the eggs one was chicken thighs, one legs etc, one pork loin, and the others were brats....

Anyhow Ill dig out some more...

We put a few bricks on top of the lump to light the lump vs newspaper...I have always used Newspaper to light them kinda my ritual, gets the neighbors attention too, it makes too much smoke. Especially with 6 in a fenced back yard on a hot Texas summer day with no wind and 50-75 folks...

Now I use alcohol thanks to friends tip.

I use alcohol too - still gets the neighbours attention.
As for lighting the egg - well any old manner does for me!
