Brand New XL Firebox $75

Ok here's the story.

Sold my XL which I had purchased new from a local dealer so I had a full warranty. When the buyer showed up to buy it after driving over 100 miles, we realized that the firebox had a crack in it. I felt bad after the guy drove so far so I figured the only honorable thing to do was to discount my asking price by the cost of a replacement so he could buy a replacement when he got back to home. I kept the cracked firebox and turned it in to the dealer for a new replacement.

So I now have a brand new, still in the box, XL firebox that sells for $170. I'm just North of Seattle and am hoping someone might want to come pick it up for $75. I really don't want to ship it cause it's heavy and I couldn't guarantee that it won't crack.

I know it's a longshot that someone without a warranty will want an XL firebox, but what the heck.

It would be funny tho if 9 years later @Scubadog still had that firebox on a shelf in his garage.

If inflation is considered, this fire box would be closer to $100

Inflation is one thing, 9 years of storage is another.  My estimates put the total at $851.76.

@714egghead, I dont know what base you are using to build up your new frankenegg with, but keep in mind that the XL did change over the last few years with the firebox, firering, and dome.  The older firebox and ring are taller than the new one with the expansion slit and notches for the platesetter.  The dome is shorter too.  The base remained unchanged through the versions.  Something to keep in mind if you plan to use the adjustable rig from CGS.  My older XL can only use the woo while my newer one has the ceramic innards sitting lower, and the dome is taller.  I really like the my older XL over the newer one except for when you are going vertical with multiple racks.

It’s the newer version BGE XL

Bought this firebox locally but don’t like how it sits up to heigh.

The only good thing about this KBJ firebox/ring is that that it should use way less lump.

I would be happy with a used cracked one.

almost pulled the trigger on a new FB/FR but would rather put that towards a mini max.

what did the KBJ firebox/ring combo cost you?  I am intrigued by the design.  Would possibly trade you ..  but we are too far away based on what area code I think you have there in your name.  Man I miss fountain valley, loved it there, but Utah is home now and thats pretty great too.

The KBJ amp firebox can be had for less then a new BGE fire ring cost. Think I might have seen one for $100 online. The bottom firehrate mesures 12” compared to 17”18” on the BGE can’t remember ehat I was from when I was research to see if the KBJ would fit.

Well folks..... just looked and it turns out that I don't have the XL firebox stored.... Wife seems to remember that we gave it back to the dealer years ago for some sort of credit (like $50) that got us some other goodies that we wanted...   For the record, for the past 9 years we've been rock'n a large BGE plus a Treager.  To be honest we use the Treager for briskets and butts and whole roast chickens....and the BGE for 700 degree rib-eyes, kabobs, burgers and whole turkeys.   Having both options is BBQ perfection for us...

@7@714egghead if Scuba still has it after 9 years then you are one lucky guy. You should consider playing the lottery.
