Howdy...

I got a mini BGE yesterday and heres my first cook it.

Ribeye and Lobster is just right for the mini. Too bad that i let the steak rest in the oven and had the temperature set too high eusa_wall.gif
Anyway, it was still good enough to eat.

Sides were Avocado with EVOO, salt and Pepper and balsamic vinegar and mini asparagus on grilled pancetta and grilled parmesan.

I think the mini and me are going to be good friends icon_mrgreen.gif

Drizzle some vinegar on top and enjoy.

  • Nice MP

Did ribeyes here last night as well:

Put a couple potatoes on the SBGE at 350.
Fired up the mini 45 minutes later.
Waited half hour to ensure no bad smoke.
Cranked the mini to 650 dome.
    Seared 90 seconds per side.
Moved the potatoes to the oven where steak plates were being preheated.
Roasted the ribeyes until 125 internal.
    Meanwhile - prepped the potatoes
Pulled the steaks and drizzled with a little garlic butter.
    Nice

Your are really going to enjoy the mini

  • Great looking steak and lobster. Lobster is a great first cook choice! Here's mine:

You will be amazed at all the things that fit on the mini. You just have to be a little innovative.
    This spatchcock chicken fits perfectly:

    Hey that looks great!

The lobster looks awsome did you cook it entirely on the grill? what temp? how long?

I usually steep mine first, remove the shell for stock, and poach the meat partially cooked in butter and THEN place on the grill to finish. How did yours turn out?

    cheers!

  • I couldnt help but throw some ribs on the mini and see how it does low & slow.
Used some aluminum foil as a heat barrier but im gonna build me something more useful, plate setter like.

The Mini still runs on the initial load of charcoal, wich was about 1 pound.
Ribs are basted with tabasco chipotle and rubbed with texasbbqrub. Looking good so far

That avocado is a hell of an idea. Do you but the balsamic on just after or also prior to putting on the grill. I am very curious to the taste, it looks great. I am always amazed at what ideas get generated out here.
Also did you use run of the mill balsamic or something on the higher end, I ask because it looks pretty thick in your pic.
