I have translated an ancient Egyptian wall painting of a guy sitting before a charcoal "hibachi"-looking thing. He's holding a spatchcocked bird on the end of a stick over the coals.
The inscription says --
"I have been roasting since the beginning of time, and I have never seen anything like this goose!"
