Need help cooking Flank Steak Evenly

We really enjoy flank steak but I am having a hard time cooking them evenly throughout. They are often twice as thick on one end as the other. I end up with well done on one end and rare on the other. Would like to see med rare throughout. Any suggestion?

cut it in half... put the two halves on at different times.

I did one on Friday and doubled the thin end over itself and tied it with poulry lacers. I hot tubbed it first and it came out well. You only get sear on one side but I just served it seared side up and nobody noticed. The thin side came out more rare than the thick
