Mesquite smoked filet

I've done the last few steaks with Raising the Steaks and no smoking woods without comment. Last night threw in a few chips of mesquite waited ten minutes even though there wasn't any white smoke cooked them and she asks what did you put on them that tastes like lighter fluid? I started the fire with a weed burner and it had been going for 30 minutes waiting on the oven broiled sweet potatoes. I could barely taste the difference. I am surprised that after just 15 minutes of cooking that it made a difference.

Oh well a few more virgin steaks and maybe I'll try something different. I've used Jack Daniels chips on a JD soaked steak and that was well recieved.

Oh BTW my wife hit her target weight on weight watchers so now she gets 4 more points a day. Maybe bacon, cream sauces and potatoes will be visiting.

EDIT FROM THE WIFE: that may still be turkey bacon and tofu sauces but hey he still got his Hot Tuscan Bread!
