My first loaves were splendiferous... so, I made 16 baby startlings.
Brought "samples" to church choir last night -- all was immediately gobbled up, and my new baby startlings were scarfed up [along with instructions] --
Experiment -- Putting choc chips in the bread
Result -- failure. The choc chips swam to the bottom and goobied up down there, and stuck to the bottom of the pan. When I took the bread out, the choco-gooey stayed stuck to the bottom, and there were no chips within the bread.
Experiment -- Using 1/2 oil and 1/2 applesauce
Result -- Bleh! It was OK, but the "oil only" bread was more moist and had a more even texture.
Best to All!

Thank you for saving me. I am baking some tonight and had seriously considered the chocolate chips.
I think I am going to add some fresh ground nutmeg to it to see what happens. -
Fresh nutmeg, now that sounds gooooooood!
Broc, emailed me about he bread and I responded back telling him I was going to put some chocolate chips in.
My wife had just started cooking two loaf's. One has chocolate chips in it.
Now that was about 2 minutes before I open and read Broc's email.
Looks like I should be able to confirm in about 30 minutes or so.
My mix is pretty thick and gooey. Looking at the loaf there are some chips at the top of the loaf. So we will see.

I cooked two loaves yesterday they turned out fantastic!

Just pulled two loaf's out. One has chocolate chip's.
Cooling in the pan right now.
Sure smells good.
There are some of the chips lodged in the upper side of the bread.

Yeah -- I checked my choc chip container, and it said, "Guaranteed to be the most solid, heavy and satisfying chips in the world -- will sink to the bottom of any Friendship Bread batter."
Should I send you some?

LOL...
My chocolate chip pan sunk in the middle. Dang it!!! I checked the temperature with the thermopen and wonder if poking the loaf is what caused the 'falling'?
Just about ready to cut into the bread to see where the chips fell.
GG -
With my bread, they were just chips off the ole Broc...
