Brine, Baste or Inject?

When I was learning to cook I started with basting, moved on to injecting(cheapy cajun injector), but am currently most pleased with brining meat. It seems like the die hard bbq crowd prefers to inject though. Are there any benefits to 1 over another with the egg? Or is it just a speed issue?
