Refinished my table . . .

MCG DAWG

. . after two years of use and abuse this thing was in dire need of a clean up. Decided to really do it right and did some heavy duty sanding to clean up the wood and then thanks to the advice of some on this forum Used a Minwas Outdoor Poly finish. Four coats and voila, new looking table.
Here's before and after. Excuse the messy yard. Just finished a renovation of the house and waiting for cooler weather to fix up the yard.

Table looks great! I made the horrible mistake of using Thompson's Water Seal and it's a dirt magnet. I think I'll try the same stuff you used.

Nice job. I let mine go for 6 years and took forever to sand the memories off.
-
That looked like 2 years of hard use, those beer openers were starting to look a little worn too.
Nice job! -
I thought 60 grit would get it done. I was wrong. Had to go back and get some 30 to get it all off of there before smoothing it all back out. Stuff is seriously abrasive.

Looks great! Which product did you use? My table is made with pressure treated lumber and I was a little hesitant to do anything with it. This looks so good I think I might!

I went from 30 grit with a belt sander to 220 hand sanding between coats of spar urethane

Wow, Pat, what a rebirth of a table!
When I got my new table, I retired the old one to flower planter duty. After a power wash, a redwood stain and a couple of coats of spar urethane, the thing looked pretty darn good...if I get another LBGE, I might have to reclaim it (and get a rolling pin across the skull in the process  ) -
It looks like you finished more than the table...the stone patio looks great too.

That would be MCG DAWG's. have to hide that pic before my wife adds that to my to do list. That is a nice paver job DAWG.

Nce job. It looks great.
My expieriance with Minwax Outdoor Poly finish is it lasts two years, if your lucky.
I finished my table last fall and it already needs to refinished in spots. If I ever do another I am going to use aircraft grade epoxy spar finish.

Thanks Brad. Think next time it might be less work to build a new one, but it does feel good to take it back to original
