Who's done a turkey on a medium egg? Anyone? How many pounds was it? What were the results? I'm already planning for Thanksgiving and I'm curious if the meduim egg will be too crowded...
Thanks

    Animal Eater,
I have successfully roasted an 8 pound bird on a vertical roaster in my meduim. You could probably go as high as 12 pounds with a V-rack. Be very careful to check and make sure your dome thermometer is not touching the bird. You can use a spacer on the outside to raise the probe a bit if you need to. Good luck.

    Animal Eater,
I'm a med. egger also. I've done about 6 successful big birds in the last year. My latest adventure was a cook for my dad (neighborhood party) and he brought over a 14.72 pound turkey. I had my doubts but it just fit. I had to pull the thermometer out about half way. Also, I put mine in the v-rack not a vertical. [p]A couple of things that have lead to success. 1. Brine your bird overnight. 2. Dry bird 3.Put bird in the refrigerator, uncovered for three or four hours after brining to dry the skin. Smoke at 350* until the bird hits 165* internal.
    Good Luck, BobbyG.
