I noticed a nice building around the top of the egg - along with some on the inside of the dome. I've been able to get it to 'crystalize' by getting the egg up to around 700, which should make it easy for removal.

After letting it cool down, does anyone suggest a method for cleaning? I know I can use aluminum foil, or a brass brush of a sort, but man, does this create a mess all over the inside and outside of the egg!

If it is built up that much, be careful about burning it off; torch that stuff off and you relaly will see how hot your Egg can get.

First, scrape all of it off that you can.
    THEN burn.
Then use the aluminum foil ball.

Then, stop soaking your smoking wood.
Or at least get that Egg above BBQ temps once in a while.

Open top, put down paper towels, use 6" paint scraper and flex it all around. Scrapes everything off.
