xl BGE and drip pan

I just purchased a XL BGE. cooked my first meal tonight and it was great.

I have a question regarding a drip pan though with the XL. I purchased the optional ceramec tray for non direct cooking. On the XL, the tray only leaves a couple of inches between the grill and nd the tray, thus is not enough room for a drip pan.

Is there some other way to arrange items in the XL BGE to enable a drip pan to be used?

The tray, as you call it, is the plate setter. On the XL, remove the fire ring and put the plate setter on the fire box. Then, put the fire ring back on the plate setter. This will give you the clearance you need.
