OT Dumb question re: Kobe Beef

OK, I heard this in college and never ever found out if it was true or not. What is Kobe beef? I have heard that the authentic Japanese stuff was made by taking boards to the beef and beating the animal while it was still alive and that is how it got all that marbling. I heard that the US Kobe is fed well and massaged regularly and that is how the marbling is obtained here. Is any of this true? Or has anyone else heard this?

This site..(and the referenced article)is pretty good info...

Also, it's a good reference when it comes to Wagyu Beef in general.
EvansI spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!!
