Lobster Tails?

After just two cooks** on the small egg we brought home from Waldorf my wife said that she doesn't want to go out for dinner this Mother's Day, but would rather stay home and have lobster tails cooked on the egg. (They're on sale at the Acme.)

I've never cooked lobster tails on a grill of any sort. Any suggestions?

I like mine cracked down the top with a little EVOO. Simple but you can taste the difference the charcoal makes. Grilled lobster is way better than steamed or boiled.

My first cook in my egg was 'dwell in the shell' lobster Tristan lobster tails. Unbelievably good! If you do grill them make certain that the shell is well cracked to avoid curling up. Alternately, use a grill press.

Larry, thanks for the recipe. It does not indicate if the cook is direct or indirect. Is it safe to assume that it is direct?

Another simple way to prevent curling is to run a skewer lengthwise through the tail.

I cook them direct and they always come out good just don't over cook.

Hoss's BBQ

I like mine with Salt White pepper and some garlic butter. I soften a stick of butter and add fresh chopped garlic. I slather this on the tails about 2 ,minutes before they are done. Shell side down on the grill when they are red they are done. Here is a shot from work. Hoss

They're shell side up in the photo but they were cooked shell side down?

No the cut open part is up. sorry for not being clear. The "fin" side is down on the grill . which I consider shell side since the meet is exposed from the top. Hope that works for you Hoss

This maybe a stupid question, but do you not cut away the thick membrane on the fin side and are you simply making a split along the top of the shell?
