Never done a shoulder for pulled Pork ... always butts.
Any difference?
They are bone in and have a nice fat cap. I plan to cook them just like I do a butt unless anyone has a suggetion or a comment.
Thanks in advance.[p]Carey

Sundown, as I understand it, the shoulder is made up of two parts - the butt and the picnic. If you get a full shoulder you get both. Very seldom will you find the full shoulder. However, since they are very close to the same piece of meat, the picnic is a nice substitute for the butt. What I still don't understand is why the pig has his butt on his shoulder.

Wise One, butt, per dictionary: "the end or extremity of anything, esp. the thicker, larger, or blunt end, as of a musket, fishing rod, whip handle, arrow, log, (or hog shoulder), etc."
