Playing with MickeyT's new temp rings reminds me of target golf (and that's funny because I don't golf). Before with just the daisy wheel and lower vent, I'd shoot for 250, 300, etc. Today I go out and try to hit 260º dead on, or 210º versus 220º. Today I got 260º with the lower vent three-quarters of an inch open and a number three smoke ring. I put the smoke rings under the daisy wheel to keep the darn thing from falling off when I open the dome and it also seems to help stabilize the temps.[p]For those of you who were fans of the movie - Spinal Tap, you'll be happy to know that the temp rings go to a size 11. Not a 10. An eleven. It's hotter than a ten.
