I guess newbies could bang around and figure it out after throwing out a bunch of mistakes, but why not take advantage of all the lessons learned by so many "Pro Eggers". Sorry for the rant - must be the Jacque Daniel kicking in.
Wish I could make it to the Florida Egg Fest to learn from pros but I'm committed to cleaning up a Bayou along with a bunch of other local fisherman and a Baptism that weekend. I'll sure make it to Austin if there is no major conflict.
Insanity is defined by doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Your guidance and wisdom is appreciated.
I haven't noticed any negativity towards you; in fact just the opposite. Folks are glad to see you post and respond to their posts.
Hell, you are an icon on this forum; and a lot of folks would love it if it was them.
So get off your butt and get to posting instead of sitting at home lurking!
Start by responding to my post to you in this thread and my post on pulled beef!

There's a new crowd here and I can begin to see what happened a few times over the past years. Like water, the IQ level will seek it's own level. No matter how much "nudging" us old timers do we'll get jammed for it.
I haven't been on all that long, but I haven't seen that kind of reaction for the newer people. Other than flaming, I have seen the responses to have very grateful and appreciative.

This forum was a big reason for my Egg purchase. I will throw my "not-old-guard-but-huge-forum-fan" support towards anything that keeps the quality of posts up. I have noticed a change in posts and posters as well. [p]It is amazing to me that BGE HQ seemingly does not support the forum. I barely have enough time to visit the forum let alone give up free time as do the current moderators. [p]I have had the same thought but as I consider myself a lurker more than anything I hesitated to post. Was glad to see your post on this topic.[p]Doing my bit to spread the Egg around here in Canada. I am up to three Egg conversions with three pending. I always "sell" the forum while potential converts are chewing away saying "man-this-food-is-awesome".[p]Cheers
Matt (a.k.a. "South O", as in "South Omaha", as in some guy who evidently lives across the crick from Eden). Brews to all.
When I saw that post from the anonymous guy the other day I had the perfect reply. I didn't do it cause I wasn't sure of your frame of mind.
It went like this:
A:hole Wess B is way old enough to be a cranky ol fert! It's only the fact he is married to a much younger woman that makes him appear young. He has contributed more to this craft than you will ever know.
Don't let somebody who doesn't have the bells to identify him/herself chase you away. Everybody here respects and welcomes your participation.

Matt.
I would really hate to see or know that all of that good and great experience, whether learned the hard way or so often the way us newbies are able to learn, by reading others successes and mistakes, is not being passed on to us.
Please come back and put up with the changes that you may not like and bless us with all of that experience and wisdom that you have gleened over the years of egging. By keeping your bark thick, you should be able to weather any flaming that is thrown out by those with thin skins.
I see no reason for you to not to post,Bro. I figured you were still milking those six stitches in your foot, and having Sally bring you Crown in between the foot rubs.LOL.
You contribute a great amount to our forum. I know we don't own it, but it is what we make of it. Dust settlin' just aint your style. Get back in here with your friends! We need to track down Fidel, Mad Max, Grillgurl and so many others.
I just know that long before I came along there were Eggheads having a great time on the Forum as they shared recipes, advice, ideas and even each other's aches and pains. They were as eager to help me as I was eager to learn. That meant a lot to me then and still does today.
I truly feel that I've made more friends in those nine years than all the years before.
Technology can improve a lot of things about this Forum but it's the people that makes it work. I can live with technical problems but I can't live without my friends.

Can't make the new side work for me. I used to stop in several times a day and would contribute when I felt I had something useful to add. Been here since 1998, and kinda feel left out with the new changes to be honest. I have not tried to get up to speed lately, but did make several attempts early on to make the switch with no success.

LOL - I think they pulled those stitches too tight. If there were a Poll It would shock me if you were not prominantly on the list.
Your finger experiment sounds a bit adventurious for me. I hope when you see the specialist all is well and the most serious thing you have to deal with is one handed forum checks and adjusting the tightness and or removal of those stiches.
Wasn't too long ago and I had to put the traning wheels back on the 2" brad nailer.

I've tried to get on the new forum numerous times. I can observe but not contribute. I have received three of four new passwords to no avail. Don't know what to do next. Guess just stay here. Like it better anyhow. The new one is too slow. tstick
