First brisket exceeded expectations. Thanks to Wess B, Third Eye and Naked Whiz for their write ups - will do this again. Put an 8 lb. brisket on last night at 10:00. Pulled it at 197 internal this afternoon at 4:30, wrapped it and put in a cooler for 2hours. Little slaw, italian bread, and some cabernet - nice.

Congrats, Frank, not an easy cut to cook. To get something good first time is a real tribute.

Looks like a winner!
Who said you couldn't cook a small brisket anyway? -
I like the set up for the egg. Hopefully one day I can have a table for mine as well.

Very nice! The local market got them on sale this week. Thanking about getting 2 and stacking them on homemade extender. One for me and one for the guys at work. They are willing to pay for all supplys and meat pluse my beer tab to do it! Can't beat that. The Digi Q makes it simple.

Congrats! Looks great.
Cheers,

Looks great - I'm brisket-challenged so it's always encouraging to see someone do it well.
Cheers,

Congrats on the successful cook! That is one serious Q-Light you've got going on there. 500W?
-
Flew solo on this one. Haven't invested in a helper yet. Cleaned out all ash, loaded up the lump, scatterred a handful of mesquite, took about two hours to stabilize at 235 dome and put the puppy on. Went to bed around midnight and all was cool. Woke up at 4:30 and the dome was at 240 and the brisket was at 155.
-
I suspect it is around 500w. If you run out of lump, you can use it to cook with. Don't wrap the cord around it just after turning the light out.

I have the "Q" but every once in a while I like to go alla natural just to keep the tao!
-
Looks good Frank. What if any smoking woods did you use?

Sorry about that, should have read your response to JLOCKHART before posting.
